The Andrews Institute Ambulatory Surgery Center (AIASC) has earned the Advanced Orthopaedic Certification Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). This exclusive designation makes AIASC one of the first 20 programs in the United States and the first facility in Florida to earn the certification.
AIASC underwent a rigorous on-site survey conducted last year to achieve Advanced Orthopedic Certification status. Evaluation topics covered the entire continuum of care for total joint replacement patients, beginning with the pre-admission consultation to surgery, discharge, follow-up and rehabilitation.
The on-site surveyor followed a patient from check-in to discharge and was with the patient during their post-operative care. AIASC also had to show quality data/studies that indicated a 0% infection rate, a consistent 96% patient satisfaction rating and readmission rates far below the national average. Patient charts were reviewed for evidence of compliance with AIASC’s policy and procedures, including whether thorough teaching, discharge and post-operation information were provided.
Eleven physicians currently perform total joint replacements at AIASC. Robot-assisted total joint surgical procedures are among the surgery center’s innovative techniques. Visit our Total Joint Surgery page to learn more.
